Advanced innovation in surveillance of abdominal aortic aneurysms

Abdominal aortic aneurysms cause more than 175,000 deaths globally every year, with an 80% mortality rate if ruptured.1 Philips abdominal aortic aneurysm model solution detects, segments and quantifies 3D ultrasound for use in surveillance of native aneurysms and following endovascular aneurysm repair.

    Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Model

Detect, segment and quantify 3D ultrasound data for AAA surveillance

Routine surveillance of AAAs is important, yet imaging modalities in the current standard of care are associated with significant drawbacks such as inter-operator variability of 2D ultrasound and patient exposure to radiation and nephrotoxic contrast agents in CT exams.2 Philips Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Model can help overcome these challenges and offers increased diagnostic confidence and an improved patient experience with 3D ultrasound.3

    Increased diagnostic confidence
3D ultrasound with the AAA Model solution can be used to estimate the diameter and volume of an AAA with acceptable reproducibility and an improved agreement with CT,4 and with inter-operator reproducibility superior to that of a 2D ultrasound exam.5
    Epiq ultrasound screen
    Improved patient experience
Philips AAA Model improves the patient experience by eliminating exposure to high levels of radiation and nephrotoxic contrast agents that CT Angiography (CTA) requires, while still providing clinicians with the necessary diagnostic information.

    Lower cost of care
The low cost of ultrasound is one reason that it has become the preferred imaging modality for aneurysm screening and surveillance. The AAA model supports this important ultrasound imaging application.
