Philips Avent Audio MonitorsDECT Baby Monitor

I have only been using this item for a few days and am thoroughly confused by the reviews on here saying that the volume and pick up is poor. I have had no issues whatsoever, the monitor sits about a metre from my baby and the parent unit is about a metre away from me and i can hear her breathing and shuffling about in her cot perfectly well. The system is very easy to set up and install, although the instruction manual could use some work on how the lullaby function works as i wasn't aware that it was on a timer that you can't change - i assumed it was indefinite. The nightlight feature is great as it means i can see my baby in the glow without having to turn on an extra light and disturb her further. I love the lullabies, they are a little 'tinny' but there are all my babies favourites and they sooth her fantastically. All in all an excellent unit for the price!

I have loved this product for the first 18months of my son's life. The music sooths him very well, night light is just the right brightness and the monitor itself was great (volume, reception, no interference etc) however it has now started turning itself off and then only turns on again sometimes when you press the button. As my son is 18 months old now I feel a bit reluctant to invest in another monitor as he rarely wakes at night, but will have to because of the product not lasting...

This is a very easy product to use. However it's design is poor and is sadly a let down of the Philips Avent brand. The pick up quality is excellent, but in order to appreciate this you need to hold the parent unit close to your ear. There is insufficient volume from the parent unit. The design of the parent unit is sadly disappointing. As the unit stands tall and narrow it falls over very easily. Unfortunately the unit itself is not robust enough to withstand falling down and so switches itself off. At times it will not switch back on again unless plugged into mains power supply (despite being fully charged). Once switched on mains supply can be removed. If issues with the parent unit were addressed I would more than recommend this product, however as it is I would have to advise against it if asked.

I asked my sister for this as a gift and I'm afraid to say it's useless. With the monitor placed 1 foot from the baby head and the parent unit beside me at full volume it's impossible to hear anything. If there is any low level background noise it might as well not be there. I expect to be able to hear breaths and gurgles and yet don't even become alerted until my baby is fully crying. I can't be expected to sit in silence trying to hear when my son begins to get agitated. Very poor

what could be a very good product has been rendered usless by the very flimsy design of the power lead. there is clearly now a break in my lead, just as the wire comes out of the mains plug. this means that it connects intermittently, usually disconnecting in the middle of the night, so getting woken up by the bleeping, when our baby is sleeping soundly. other nights it cuts out and we eventually hear her crying. trying to find a replacement ac/dc adaptor, but have been on the internet for a while now with no joy :(

... so at this point this is absolutly useless... When we have the washing mashine turned on, then You can forget it at all. As someone wrote earlier... one needs to hear the sounds leading up to the full cry. The main event is easy detectable by all neighbours, so we really do not need the baby phone for THAT. As the main function is not really working, I cannot really assign better. I asked my wife to talk infront of this device in regular voice and with sensitivity and volume on MAX I could not understand one word.

Rubbish product. I can only hear when my 4 week old screams, not the sounds leading up to the crying which is the point at which I would be abl to go to her room and settle her. Settling my baby once she hits the crying phase takes hours. Thanks for nothing Avent!

it is very hard to hear the child through this monitor unless you have the parent monitor really close to you
